Terms of use

Effective: September 2026

1. What you are using

Heardle Unlimited is a free, browser-based music guessing game. It is provided as-is for personal entertainment, music education, and ear training. There is no purchase, no subscription, and no account required.

2. How the game works

Each game round plays a synthesized audio approximation of a song introduction. You guess the song by searching for the artist or title. You get up to 6 attempts. Each wrong or skipped guess reveals more of the audio (1s, 2s, 4s, 7s, 11s, 16s).

All audio is generated client-side using the Web Audio API. These are not original recordings. They are synthesized approximations created for identification and trivia purposes.

3. What you can and cannot do

You may:

  • Play the game as much as you want, in any mode.
  • Share your score grids on social media.
  • Suggest songs through the contact form.
  • Link to this site from your own website or social profiles.

You may not:

  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute the song database, game code, or audio synthesis configurations.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the synthesizer profiles or extract source data.
  • Use automated tools to play the game or generate score data.
  • Imply affiliation with or endorsement by Heardle Unlimited on any platform.

4. Intellectual property

Artist names, song titles, and album references belong to their respective copyright holders. Heardle Unlimited does not claim ownership of any musical work. All audio content is synthesized client-side under fair use principles for identification and trivia purposes. Read our full Copyright and DMCA Notice.

5. No guarantees

We do our best to keep the game accurate and the audio recognizable, but we make no guarantees about accuracy, availability, or uninterrupted service. The game may contain errors in song data, synthesizer profiles, or historical information. We fix confirmed issues when reported through the contact form.

6. Limitation of liability

Heardle Unlimited is a free game. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to data loss from clearing browser storage, device performance issues, or decisions made based on song data accuracy.

7. Independent disclaimer

This website is an independent creation. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Spotify AB, The New York Times Company, Sony Music Entertainment, or the original Heardle creators.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we will note the updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
